I just found

SHACL rules infer new triples.

to be a bit confusing without:

If a rule infers several triples, some new triples and some old triples, the new ones will be in the output.

can we add this sentence?

Note that the infer action is performed by the reader/interpreter.

In the sentences above, infer should be imply, which is the action performed by the author/emitter.

I think that the title of this issue would be better if changed to [Rules] State that new triples implied by compound head clauses are included in output. (or close to it)

"infer" as in "inference engines".

The WG has agreed to use "infer" for newly added triples.

From the WG charter:

This specification will define a SHACL vocabulary to represent inferencing rules that can be used to infer new RDF statements from existing statements.

noting this text covers "SHACL Node Expressions" and "SHACL Rules".
