Clockwise is flexible β€” you can build it using simple jumper wires, or with dedicated PCBs for an easier and more reliable setup.

This page explains your hardware options and how to connect everything.

Core Components

At minimum, you need:

Component Notes
RGB LED Matrix 64x64 (HUB75/HUB75E) P2.5 or P3 matrix recommended
ESP32 Dev Board ESP32-WROOM, WROVER or compatible
5V 3A Power Supply Barrel plug or wired, at least 3A

1️⃣ WiseShield-32 PCB Kit (Recommended)

  • Created specifically for Clockwise
  • Simplifies wiring β€” just plug your ESP32 and LED Matrix
  • Soldering required (DIY Kit)
  • Available at Elecrow

πŸ‘‰ See: WiseShield-32 Assembly Guide

2️⃣ Compatible PCBs

There are other boards that work with Clockwise:

Board Notes
ESP32 Trinity Fully integrated, ready to flash
Mario-Clock PCB (Alexvanheu) Custom designed, tested with Clockwise
WeMos Matrix Shield DMA (Hallard) Stackable shield, works with D1 Mini ESP32

3️⃣ Manual Wiring (if no PCB)

Follow the instructions here for manual wiring.

Notes on Power Supply

  • LED Matrix requires 5V at at least 3A β€” more if brightness is high
  • If brightness flickers:
    • Check power supply rating
    • Use thicker wires
    • Check for proper ground connection
